I heart art...

If you live in the Vancouver area, you MUST make a trip to the Art Gallery before September 13th for the Vermeer, Rembrandt and The Golden Age of Dutch Art exhibit. I have a slight obsession with Vermeer and his detailed and precise work that captured scenes of everyday Dutch life during the 17th century.

The exhibit includes some of the finest paintings by the masters of the Golden Age, as well as an outstanding selection of drawings and decorative arts drawn from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. I absolutely fell in love with the exquistely detailed still life flower paintings by Rachel Ruysch who was one of the very few female artists successful during the Golden Age. I highly suggest getting the audio guide that goes along with the exhibit which will give you an inside look into the personal lives of the artists. And when you're done at the exhibit do the like the Dutch and sit, relax and have a delicious espresso at the lovely outdoor Art Gallery cafe (no clogs neccesary).
