Stripes and red lips...

For some reason, whenever I wear black and white stripes, it seems mandatory to wear red lipstick as well, it just feels like the perfect combo...

Getting me through the day...

This Black Keys song has been on repeat for quite some time now... The video just makes me smile.

Obakki Obsession...

I am seriously in love with everything Obakki, the flowy, drapey shirts and dresses, the beautiful neutral colour palette, the gorgeous use of silks; I could live in these clothes. That's probably why I'm so excited for the Fall/Winter fashion show tomorrow night at St. Andrew Wesleys church. Not only will everyone in the Vancouver fashion industry and their dog be there, there's an amazing after party at Boneta, one of my favorite gastown restaurants and all of the ticket proceeds go to the Obakki Foundation.

Grab some last minute tickets through the website Obakki.com

See you there!!

Letting my mind wander is a dangerous thing...

On days like today when it's raining sideways, there people are running around the city with upside down umbrellas and I'm forced to stay indoors all day, I tend to let my mind wander and imagine the beautiful, sunny days of summer and all of the breezy, light outfits I plan on wearing the second the thermometer goes above 18 degrees (that's all I'm asking for!!). I saw this dress on Shopbop and thought it would be absolutely perfect for one of the millions of weddings I'm going to in the next few months.

Paired with these very lovely wedges...

And these jade earrings that are so 'me' it's ridiculous...

And of course, an armload of bangles (which I definitely do not need to go and purchase).

And if I was the one getting hitched, I'd be wearing this little amazing one shoulder number...

This gorgeous number would work too...

Oh god, what is this rainy weather doing to me???? I've resorted to planning my imaginary wedding which is so NOT me!! I need some fresh air...

Damn you Aritzia...

My bank account (who are we kidding, my credit card) is seriously cursing you right now for having so many gorgeous pieces in. I have fallen in love with the newly introduced collection by Wilfred called Le Fou and have somehow convinced myself that every piece is a 'must-have'. The line is inspired by the romance of the Victorian era, using soft, muted tones and the most gorgeous raw and washed silk. Available at the Pacific Centre, Robson street and Oakridge locations, I highly suggest that you be poor with me and stock up on this fabulous line!

A little purple inspiration...

Inspired by these very lovely purple hyacinths I have in my apartment, I pulled out this fabulous silk indigo button up from Aritzia that I always forget about...

Purse, Zara/Pants, Gap/Shoes, Lechateau/Shirt, Aritzia

I'm already breaking my own rules...

I would definitely break my small bag rule for any of these gorgeous Alexander Wang bags...

Jade clutch stingray,$725 us (is seriously exactly what I am looking for!)

And it doesn't actually break the bag rule, it only breaks my bank!

Marion sling, $650 us

Ryan, $725 us

Emile tote, $975

Lia sling, $780 us

If you are lucky enough to be able to afford any of these, you can find them here (I hate you)...

I am not a big bag lady...

Despite the layers upon layers of jewelry I like to pile on myself, I really am a pretty minimalistic dresser. I like one layer of clothing, usually kinda sheer, nothing too restricting, no heavy bag, a comfy (but amazing) pair of shoes and I'm content as can be. My friends kill me in the winter because I usually don't even wear a coat! And I absolutely cringe watching women being carried down by a huge duffel like bag purse, struggling to keep it on their shoulder.

I've been on the hunt for the perfect little wristlet/clutch/wallet thingy to hold the essentials; rosebud lip salve, perfume roller, comb, credit cards, phone and more credit cards...

I found these cute options at Holt Renfrew...

Kate Spade, neon yellow wallet, $155

Marc by Marc Jacobs, tangerine wristlet, $75

Kate Spade, $125

And now I just can't decide which one is my favorite!

I caved...

Don't laugh...

Shoes, Urban Outfitters/Jeans, Gap/Top, H&M/Bag, Zara

For my first outfit post, I thought I'd keep it simple. This is my usual uniform; wedge shoes, boyfriend jeans, a loose and somewhat sheer top, a few bright accessories and a crap load of bracelets. Oh and very messy hair (not on purpose).

I apologize for the quality of the photo, it'll take me a while to figure out this self timing photo thing...

To outfit post or to not outfit post?

Yup, that's the question! I've been having a little personal dilemma with myself as to whether or not I should be blogging about my daily outfit choices. So far the cons seriously out way the pros...

Pros:

  • I could maybe, some how, some way inspire one or two lovely ladies to take a few more risks when it comes to fashion like I do when I see fabulous outfit posts.
Cons:

  • I am not the most photogenic of ladies out there.

  • I live alone and have no one to take the photos for me. (It's ok, I like being a loner)

  • I could try and do the self-timer thing but I'm incredibly technologically inept.

  • And are my outfits really that great anyway????

  • What if people laugh at me... (ha! that's a joke, I laugh at myself 24/7)

So far, this is what I have... I will ponder a bit more and will leave you with some links to my favorite local bloggers who have embraced outfit posts, inspire me daily and always look AMAZING!

A little more home inspiration...

I stumbled upon Apartment Therapy's Small/Cool 2011 Home contest the other day and being that I live in a very small (and hopefully cool) home, I have been slightly overwhelmed with home decor inspiration from the amazing nominees.

Like Sandra's adorable 224 sq ft (!!!!!) apartment in Brooklyn

And Katie's Los Angeles hillside bungalow...

And Cammie's cozy Boston home...

And Louisa's tiny and eclectic apartment in Astoria, NY...

Check out all the inspiring and very cool entries here and maybe perhaps make an entry...

I'm Sole Struck...

My lovely friend Mel recently introduced me to an online shoe shopping experience like no other. Sole Struck has hundreds of amazing shoe brands like Jeffery Campbell, Ash, Opening Ceremony, Dolce Vita, Rachel Comey, Sam Edelman and basically any other amazing shoe brand out there.

I searched Jeffery Campbell + wedges and literally 500+ items came up and I thought it was Christmas morning!

I somehow narrowed it down to my top 5 picks off the site...

Sam Edelman, Wynn, $209.95 us

Minimarket, wood wedge, $369.95 us

Messeca, Ember, $159.95 us

Dolce Vita, Pela, $164.95 us

Ok, one more...

I'm gonna do it all!!

There are far too many fabulous events happening in Vancouver right now; a classic play, an amazing concert with my favorite singer and one tear jerker of an opera to name a few!

The Graduate, playing at the Granville Island Stage through Arts Club Theatre Company, is playing until May 14th and even though Dustin Hoffman has retired his role as the young and gorgeous Benjamin, I'm sure it'll still be a pretty steamy show!

The opera La Traviata starts April 30th and is playing at the Queen Elizabeth theatre. In it's first sentence of the description it reads 'The Parisian courtesan Violetta leads a life of wild indulgence...' And that's all I need to know! It also guarantees 'sumptuous parties, passionate encounters and intimate scenes of tragic tenderness...' Where do I sign up?

Saving the best for last, the lovely and incredibly talented Adele will be performing May 31st at The Orpheum and I am beyond excited to finally see her live.

Loving everything about this...

Photo via: stockholmstreetstyle Wearing: Acne dress via My-wardrobe, Vintage cape, Celine boots, Rebecca Minkoff clutch.

I am IN LOVE with Denni's look here but it's probably for the best that the cape is vintage, otherwise I would have spent an obscene amount of $$ hunting it down to make it mine!

A music genius interviewing a fashion genius...

If you haven't already heard through the blogosphere grapevine, Jay Z just introduced a fab new lifestyle website called Life + Times. He recently did an interview with the one and only Garance Dore and you seriously can't help but love her...

I've caught the decorating bug...

Maybe it's because I've just moved into an adorable little apartment, but lately I've been looking here, there and every where for little bits of home decor inspiration and design ideas I can (hopefully) try and copy cat!

Like this little honey comb shelf!

And a floor mat as art, genius!

Image from Design Sponge I did try this 'very clustered art on the wall' thing but it definitely did not turn out this nice... Image from Little Willow
